Christmas Appeal Result

You’ve done it! Thank you!

Last Christmas we asked you to help us provide Christmas food hampers for the families of students who were severely impacted by Covid-19 and you rallied to the cause.

You, the old scholars, contributed $10,031.29 in cash which was used to provide Christmas food vouchers for 22 families. The remaining money goes into the Benevolent Fund to assist Combermerians in need.

We initially, thought we would provide hampers but on reflection we felt it was better to provide supermarket vouchers for $250 each, in order to empower each family to buy what was most needed.

Vouchers were redeemable at A1 Supermarkets, Popular Supermarkets and Shop Smart.

The board, principal, guidance counsellor and families extend sincerest thanks to all Combermere Old Scholars for responding so generously to the Christmas Appeal.

Wi-Fi Implementation

This year, the new normal for Combermere will include remote teaching.

The ‘blending teaching’ approach will see staff teach an entire class, as normal, but with half in the classroom and the other half online.

To make the remote learning successful and seamless, the school requires a robust Wi-Fi system throughout the compound and the alumni association has taken up the challenge to provide it by the end of January 2021.

Water Mains Replacement

The old main water pipe which stretches from the area of the sandpit by the science labs to the main road needs to be replaced.  Itis rusted and the water is brown.  It is hoped that this project can get underway in January and be completed within 12 weeks.

Outdoor Seating

Benches are to be built and installed around the school to provide much needed additional outdoor seating. We aim to do this before Easter holidays. The cost is $8,500 of which we have raised $1,600. Please can you either contribute or donate a bench which costs $850.

Security Cameras

A decision has been taken to install security cameras to cover blind spots, around the school compound, during and after school hours.

PA System

A public address system is required for the school and it is the intention that this will be sourced and installed at the school before the start of the summer holidays.
