Keep The Faith!
It is the season of Olympics! a period where we test our mettle, where we see what endurance is really about. This time, is also known for the opportunities it presents to build new friendships, develop strength of character and simply, observe the spirit that embodies these games and the enjoyment of seeing others excel. Fellow Combermerians, as I reflect on this I am reminded that our present experience, wherever we are in the world, speaks to being in a season of endurance, of testing our mettle as we navigate each day with all its complexities, yet being committed to seizing new opportunities as they come to light.
For us at home, it is the ‘Season of Emancipation’, celebrating the National Day of Significance (July 26) Crop Over and the myriad festivities that capture the essence of it being more than a carnival. Sadly, once again this year, we are forced to observe these remembrances and events quietly as the country tries to manage the pandemic carefully.
I am encouraged and have every confidence that we can do it!
In this issue, we speak to Mr. Matthew Douglas, the teacher behind the successful Electronic/Robotics programme at our school. Additionally, we congratulate and extend best wishes to Cammie Burke who is, as we would say, ‘over n away’, as Head of the delegation from Barbados attending the Olympics in Tokyo. Stay safe Cammie.
Taking a moment to remind that annual subs can be paid via https://csosabarbados.com/product/csosa-subs/ Please bear in mind that there are still a couple projects that require our assistance, and as always, do take time to connect with a fellow alumni, especially older folk who are truly affected by COVID and not being able to socialize as customary.
As we continue the fight against the pandemic here in Barbados, I again applaud the efforts of all those who are working assiduously in the trenches and admire their tenacity. We cannot give in neither can we give up, and as Combermerians know very well, we press on with eager feet.
Up and On!
