My fellow Combermerians, my very best wishes to you and your families for a safe, satisfying, healthy, rewarding and resilient 2021.

It is said that all across the world you can find a Bajan. Similarly, all across the globe you can find a Combermerian and no matter whether you’re in Atlantic Shores or Alaska, Speighstown or Shenzhen, we all have been affected by the dreaded virus that plagued the world in 2020.

While navigating these unchartered waters we have seen that we are indeed stronger, adaptable and more creative than we imagined.

COVID-19 has had a horrible impact on our school and we are truly thankful for how you have rallied to our calls of help.

Not only were classes disrupted but the urgent necessity to moving learning online presented many challenges. Additionally, the impact on lives and livelihoods saw many compromised as job losses increased with the steady advance of the pandemic.

Again, we are thankful to everyone for pulling together, working as one family to assist those in need throughout the year and especially at Christmas.

As we set off into this New Year, we already know that we can and will do all that is necessary to safeguard ourselves and our families while setting about to achieve our goals. We have been tested and have proven that together we can achieve our objectives, one by one, and through helping our brothers and sisters along.

We have no intention of giving into the virus. This year the executive aims to follow through on several initiatives including installing Wi-Fi throughout the school and providing a public announcement system while at the same continuing refurbishment on pavilion, to name a few.  There is much to be done and there is much for which we must give thanks.

I encourage us all to stay the course, to continue to practice all COVID protocols such as maintaining a safe social distance, wearing face coverings and practicising good hand hygiene, to give our best in all situations and to keep the flame burning bright.

Let us make 2021 a remarkable year.

Up and On!

Mark
